X-Men 3
First of all, the entire theatre was filled. Thankfully, there weren't any crying babies or anything to ruin it.
Unfortunately, I had accidentally read a few spoilers about Scott and Xavier dying. Even though I knew Xavier was going to die, I still loved that scene in the house.
And is it just me, or are there tons of Magneto/Xavier subtext in this one? The funeral for Charles almost made me cry--but not quite.
I didn't know Jean would die, too, though. While it's very different to see The Dark Phoenix Saga without Scott, I think it may have worked fine.
I think Ellen Page did a great job as Kitty. I thought she would be horrible, but she was actually pretty good. I lost a bit of respect for Rogue for taking the easy way out, though--but it's still better than angsting for eternity like the comics version of her.
Loved Kelsey Grammar as Beast--I was prepared to hate him, too, but he's good. I still don't like Halle Berry. (Did she lose that fake accent from the first movie?)
Oh, and 20 minutes into the movie, a girl sitting beside me got up to go to the bathroom--and tripped over Dad's feet. We were all right next to the stairs, so she would have taken a header down them. Dad caught her. (Meanwhile, I was trying to get my seat down after she passed--I brought my legs up so she could get by, and the chair swallowed me.)
And as Magneto started throwing cars, and Pyro set them on fire, Dad turned to me and said this: "I'll bet you this movie cost a lot to make." Fight scenes mean nothing to this man.
Thought it was interesting that he was made powerless. Loved the reference to the first movie, with Magneto playing chess. (And the fact that he faintly moved a chess piece with his returning powers!) Things have come full circle. Is he supposed to be a homeless guy now?
At the very end, I stayed until after the credits. (About half the audience left, but a lot of people were still there.) I didn't know Claremont was the lawnmower guy. :D (I did recognize Stan Lee, though.)
When they showed that Xavier was in another body, this happened to the few that had stayed through the credits.
Xavier: Hello, Moira....
Random guy in front: BOO!!!! Mwahahahaha!
Random girls throughout audience: EEEEEEE!!!!!
Rest of audience: *laughter*
One of the girls in the same row as him then proceeded to punch the guy that did that.
ETA: Almost forgot to mention. As everyone left the theatre that held X-Men 3, a few punk-like guys said "Wow, look at all the nerds and geeks!" Someone then shoved him to make him shut up. I wasn't offended at all. (Nerd and proud of it.)
ETA 2: I saw the preview for Snakes on a Plane. Dad freaked out, since it's not his kind of movie. They also had the preview for Superman Returns--Lex looks perfect, but I'm not too confident on their choice for Superman.
