Fannish Items of Interest

[personal profile] soph (who wrote that latest [site community profile] dw_news post) clarifies some things here. If a user has a paid or permanent account, they will not be deleted. If they are set to Memorial status, they will not be deleted. Logged in at any point in the last 24 months, as previously stated. There’s more, explaining both the community specifications and other user requirements. While [personal profile] soph isn’t staff, she has had staff confirm what she says in regards to this.

Jennifer Lawrence has been cast as Mystique in X-Men: First Class. They also give a rundown of everyone else who has been cast. Kevin Bacon will be a villain—but not Magneto.

Here’s the latest news on the Steven Moffat version of Sherlock Holmes.

Seth Grahame-Smith has been hired to write the Dark Shadows movie.

16 Demented Green Lantern Stories We’re Sure Won’t Be In The Movie. The issue Hal went nuts (#49) was the first Green Lantern comic I ever read when it came out--I liked it a bit. Of course, that storyline is the only Green Lantern story I read—if you don’t count the whole Parallax revelation, or when he tried to redo the universe in Zero Hour or a couple other crossover events.

I have been asked what I want for my birthday next month, since Mom is tired of just giving me socks every year, for both my birthday and Christmas. As always, the answer is I have no idea, probably nothing.

Random note: For the last three or four days, the temperature has managed to hit 110 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s likely too hot to do anything like thinking. I have iced tea, and I’m staying near a fan.

And for three days, people were lined up for the grand opening of a second Chik-Fil-A near the mall. They camped out like Twilight fans with their I Heart Chik-Fil-A shirts and merchandise, lying on the pavement despite the heat. They finally staggered inside yesterday morning around 6 AM, nearly dead from the heat. A cameraman poked them a few times—they snapped out of their dazed state and cheered before shuffling away.
