Never heard of the problem, or have a particular idea on how to solve it, but in the realm of 'dealing with it while you work on the problem', if you have a google toolbar, putting a full url, http and all will (at least for me), go to the page directly without having to go through google. (If that didn't work, you could also presumably set your home page to a particular site you want to go to and click the home button).
