RIP, Dom DeLuise

I just found out (from The View, of all places) that Dom DeLuise passed away last night, in his sleep, after being hospitalized with respiratory and kidney problems. He was 75 years old. May he rest in peace.

I believe the only things I’ve ever seen him in were Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and an episode of Stargate SG-1.

I've always liked him. I was so pleased when his sons started showing up in TV roles, too -- and when he had a few guest shots in 21 Jump Street as Peter Deluise's character's father.

He also wrote a charming cookbook, Eat This, You'll Feel Better, about his Italian childhood, with very good recipes.

Well, I'm old enough to remember when he and Burt Reynolds were a crazy comedy team from the Cannonball Run days. I always thought they had a great affection for one another, and Dom seemed like a lovely whacky man.

If you ever get a chance, see "Haunted Honeymoon", he was magnificent in it.

Oh, how sad. I know him best for his voice work in All Dogs Go To Heaven, a childhood favourite of mine.

The Radar article has statement from Burt: "I was thinking the other day about this. As you get older you think about this more and more, I was dreading this moment. Dom always made everyone feel better when he was around. I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. I will miss him very much," Reynolds told ET.

Wow. I grew up watching him in numerous parts. Then seeing his sons go on to work too. Very sad to see that legacy gone.

Oh, that's such a shame.
