Just a little note...

I probably won't be posting for the next few days. Tomorrow morning at 9 AM is the time I am getting 4 teeth removed. Eventually, though, I will update, with a detailed description of everything that happened. I'm probably going to opt to be knocked out during the procedure, though.

I hope everything goes well. *hugs * I'm sure it will though - I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed in one go when I was 16, and that was a week before Christmas. I was knocked out during the procedure, but I swear I was up and fine and home again by 3 in the afternoon. Both my parents were working at the time so my gran was looking after me - I think I worried her by how bouncy I was. I practically dragged her down to the local video store so that I could rent some movies. She kept insisting that I should be home resting. Heh. The joys for being 16 and having the constitution of an ox, eh?

Good luck sweetie.

Good luck! Sleepy meds are of the good while you're recuperating. :)

If those four teeth are you wisdom teeth, I think you'll be surprised at how easy it is. I had mine out when I was 21 (many years ago) and I went to work afterward. Unless your teeth are impacted (coming in underneath other teeth), those back teeth are a pretty easy extraction.

If you have a choice, I advise against total anesthesia. The side effects you'll feel afterward are much worse than any discomfort you'll feel being awake for the procedure.

The worst part of it is having to crank your mouth open far enough for the dentist to get back there. The local anesthesia is painless -- absolutely painless.

When I had mine done, the dentist froze me up, then said "I'm just going to see if I can get a good hold on it," and put his tool in my mouth. Then, a couple of seconds later, he said "There, got it." I thought he meant he had a good grip. But the tooth was already out. I didn't feel a thing.

After the teeth are out, they have you bite down on gauze, and send you home with instructions to drink nothing with a straw and chew nothing. (You can have things like pudding, and you can eat a milk shake with a spoon.) You should stay quiet for the rest of the day, and the next day you'll be up and around and pretty much back to normal, except for eating soft food for a couple of more days.

I had a tooth taken out a couple of weeks ago, and I was completely healed after three days.

Good luck.

Good luck with that. I remember when I had my wisdom teeth cut out. The gas is fun. It's when it wears off that you're miserable.

Have, uh ... I suppose "fun" would be the wrong word ... Hope it goes well. :)

Well, as a friend of mine is wont to say: "strength and honour." Just remember: it's almost birthday-time!
