Oprah, or The Horror...The Horror

(I had such a long post typed out. I was typing it in Microsoft Word, and it crashed and lost everything. I'm trying to recreate the post.)

Did anyone else watch Oprah yesterday? The state of that woman's house they showed was beyond horrible.

Also, does anyone know who cleaned her house? Oprah said that the two ladies from England had their own show. I like them, and think I might like their show. Does anyone know the name of it?

Some woman had let her house get into the most disgusting way imaginable. She also hadn't let anyone in her home for two years. The air conditioner repairman was the only exception, and she told him that the house wasn't hers.

I will put the disgusting details of her house behind an LJ cut. It is nauseating.

The living room was completely covered in junk and filth. The woman had two dogs and parakeets, and they did their job wherever they wanted. There was the most beautiful banister--unfortunately, it was covered in bird mess.

And now, on with the rooms, and the horror.

First, I will start with the bedroom. Her bed was covered in boxes of junk, and plates with old food. Oh, and also dog feces. In her own words: "Sometimes I wake up during the night, and the dogs have left me a present. I just leave it there." Why?! Eww.

She never wore her clothing more than once. And she never washed them, either. She dropped them wherever she felt like, and never cleaned up.

The two English women looked under a box, and this conversation occurred:
Lady #1: OH! Good heavens! Get me out of here!
Lady #2: What was it? What did you see?
Lady #1: Dog feces and insects! I need a stiff drink of brandy!

They found an old dinner plate in one of her drawers. It looked like there was something black on it---until they shook the plate. Then roaches, and ants ran off.

Next stop: the bathroom. Apparently, there hadn't been any water in the toilet for those two years. Dog feces covered the floors, from where her dogs had gone. The toilet was black with---well, you don't want to know. Trust me on this. I think mushrooms were starting to grow in the sink, too.

Now, the worst part: the kitchen. They looked around, and there was feces on the kitchen table. (The woman never washed her hands after going to the bathroom--I will now be disgusted beyond belief.) They opened the refrigerator, and found putrifying slabs of meat, covered in maggots. There was also very old Chinese takeout that had been there for months.

After they did testing on her house, they discovered that the E.coli level was through the roof. She should have been sick, but wasn't. Outside, the normal level of mold is around 500--inside her house, it was 7000!

Those two English women performed a miracle. They got her house cleaned. When they showed the owner of the house, she looked at the couch and said: "I've never sat on the couch before. I had forgotten it was there." It had been covered in garbage.

Then, she laid down on the floor, and sniffed the carpet. She was very happy. Then, they showed her how they had cleaned the toilet. She put her head in the toilet. *Sigh.* I think she was insane.

Later on, Oprah told her that she probably needed help. The woman said she couldn't afford it. Oprah's reponse? "You're sitting here covered in diamond rings, earrings, and necklaces. You're wearing designer clothing. I think you can afford it!"

At the end of the show, she tried again to convince her to get help. Oprah said this: "You're going to make me cry, if you go back to the way you were before. Do you want to see me cry?!"

And, as further proof that the woman wasn't all there? Every time they would tell her to stand up, she would turn to the audience, wave, and say "Peace and love, everyone! Peace and love!"

I just don't understand how someone can live like that.

*Has the urge to go on a cleaning spree.*
