It's A Trojan
Dad decided to randomly search through Symantec, to see if it might be a virus that's causing that Poker link to appear. He finally found a listing--and it's a Trojan. I had thought it might be, but Dad said it couldn't be that.
Now, he says it had to have come in when something was downloaded. Since I haven't downloaded anything in the past week, it's from something that Dad did. (It's the Bittorents--maybe he'll finally believe me!) Once I back up all my files (Just in case Dad kills the computer again.), I'll let Dad try to fix it.
I've been backing up my files every evening anyway, just in case.
But if you look at the possibilities for the reappearing shortcut, I got the better end of the deal. Some of those are just nasty. Scroll down to "Creates the following files," and you'll see the list.
So, it wasn't a hacker after all. Presumably, it's also behind the randomly moving icons on the Desktop, and the pop-ups. Although, my firewall seems to have fixed the latter problem.
