The Birds

I found a baby bird in the front yard a few minutes ago. It had apparently fallen out of a nest. It had feathers, but just barely. It was so cute--and it decided to attach itself to my mom, following her everywhere. We can't keep a bird, though, so the neighbor's little girl took it.

I'm glad someone took it, or my cat would have probably tried to kill it.

My mom even got a few pictures of it. Once we develop those, if they are good, I will post them.

Ooop in my experience the baby bird falling from the nest scenarios never end well. I had that happen a couple of times when I was a kid, I hope the little bird will be okay.

It didn't seem injured, thankfully. Every time someone said something to it, it made a little peeping sound. It was too young to know how to fly or be frightened by people.

I hope so too. Apparently, the girl's mother decided she couldn't keep a baby bird. She told her to put it back where she found it. It tried to follow another neighbor home, but wasn't big enough to make it very far.

I've always heard that once a person touches a baby bird, it's mother will never go near the baby bird ever again.
