Wow...
As of 5 PM, it looks like Paducah is completely underwater. Local roads are flooded, some people are stranded under quite a few inches, as nobody can drive without being washed away. Even if we could get out of the driveway, we wouldn't be able to get very far.
There was a tornado, too. Most of it hit Illinois, though--they showed a ladder that had been driven through a tree, and gotten stuck. And I've just heard that it's headed for Missouri. The tornado, not the ladder.
Correction: They now say it's been sighted in Missouri, but I didn't catch where. So anyone on my friends list that is in the way of this mess, please try to stay safe.
The water is also breaking all laws of God and man. It is flowing upstream, and standing in places where it should be falling through the cracks of. (Apocalypse or just nature with a bizarre sense of humor? You decide.) As Mom found out when she tried to check out my grandmother's house--she leapt onto the porch to get out of the rain and made a huge splash. That shouldn't be possible, since there are spaces in the wood for water to drain. And yet, it's standing. Otherwise, that house is fine.
And in the middle of this, the mailman managed to make it through. Love that!
ETA: And my the lab results for my iron level was one of the pieces of mail that was delivered. It's 13.5, meaning that I am doing well.
