The day....

Remember my post about my mom having a fever blister on her eye? She went back to the doctor yesterday, and he thinks there is another one starting to appear. He switched her medication he prescribed last time to something else that might help it.

Today, she has to go to her regular doctor for a 3 hour long test. She mentioned the fact that she will have to drink something that is almost like a type of sugar water. She will also be having blood tests done in that three hour period.

This is all because the last time she went to the doctor, they discovered that her blood sugar was up a little. (That's only because she ate some candy before her appointment--apparently a bad idea.)

Hopefully, there isn't anything really wrong.

The test your mom is taking sounds like the one I had to take while I was pregnant. See, they gave me somthing that was like Gatoraid except it was laced with w ton of sugar. Anyways, I wasn't allowed to eat anything before the appointment and then I had to drink that sugar concoction... THEN they took my blood every 30 minutes so they could check my blood suger.

I tried to take this test 3 times... I couldn't make it without puking... all that suger made me throw up every time.

All in all... it's not that bad.

I had BAD morning sickness too. :) Your mom is probably doing much better than I did... I couldn't make it an hour.

It's 1:30, is she home yet?

I hate to come off sounding like the crazy neighbor, but I thought I'd mention this anyway. For years, I've taken L-Lysine vitamins to help reduce my fever blisters. Not on my eye granted, but I used to get them alot when I was a kid, and some in my adult life too. I would probably take two tablets a day until it was gone, then I still take 1 a day to help.

Hope that your mum's going to be ok, and that these tests all come out with nothing out of the ordinary. :)

Blood sugar

I've done that before, and usually I've eaten something I never thought would affect my sugar. I just get the hands on the hips and a lecture from the nurse.
