Good News, And Weird News...
Good News: Two of the trees are now gone, but the workers had to stop for nightfall. They said they’ll be back and finish up today. Yesterday, the ones they got were the one nearest to my room (I had to leave my room right before the tree went down, because the thud was going to be huge) and the huge one in the backyard.
Strange News: Apparently, this ice devastation has happened to Paducah before, according to The Paducah Sun. On January 26, 1902--107 years to the day--we had weather exactly like what happened. Like now, power lines and phone lines were toppled and broken, and just like now, it took a long time to restore power everywhere. And, like now, trees collapsed all across the city. Just like this one, it came in two waves.
Equally Strange News: Well, we fixed the problem with the e-mail. Windows Update didn’t cause it, it was apparently McAfee. Dad uninstalled it, and then reinstalled it, and suddenly all the problems in Outlook Express have corrected themselves. We don’t understand it, but we’re grateful.
