Random Nostalgia--And A Couple Fannish Items

Over at [community profile] fanficrants someone posted a rant involving the Oregon Trail game. I used to love that game, and willingly stayed after school back in elementary school, to play it for an hour with probably 6 or 7 other students. (In this thread, someone played it with Doctor Who characters and told all the problems—but just this once, everybody lives!) I remember playing that, and two other games. Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego, and another computer game that involved skiing down a snow covered hill—there was a chance you would be eaten by a Yeti. According to a lot of Googling, that was called SkiFree.

And then, there was another I loved playing, which was more of a trivia game on a CD that I bought from the Sci-Fi Channel a long time ago, when we first got the channel. Hosted by some sort of alien creature. I tried to figure out the name of it for over 10 years.

Should have just Googled the phrase Sci-Fi Channel trivia game CD. I found it a few minutes ago. It’s called…The Sci-Fi Channel Trivia Game, naturally. Made in 1996, so that’s around the time we got the channel. The little alien guy was named Morphix, but I’ve yet to find a picture of him. There’s not even a Wikipedia entry for it—there’s just this page, which tells the name of the creature. I think I stuck to the comic book section of the game.

SFX lists The Greatest Flashbacks. Buffy, Angel, and Firefly all get mentions. [profile] whedonesque discusses the list here.
