Argh!

We were having a thunderstorm earlier--it stopped much sooner than expected. This is a good thing, and really has nothing to do with that. The bad thing? Dad heard water running in the bathroom, despite nothing being turned on. Under the sink to be exact.

Now, on a rare occasion it's dripped under there, so he thought it was that, and went down there to check the little pan he has down under there.

He checked, and before he could do anything to turn the valve or whatever it was, the pipe under the sink apparently blew up. Water spraying everywhere, all over him. And the carpet of the bathroom is covered. Before it reached the hallway, Dad managed to run outside and turn off the water, but we have every single towel down. We filled a couple buckets before the water was turned off, so we've just dumped it in the bathtub to get rid of it.

We're trying to find an emergency plumber right now.

ETA: Okay, so we're also pulling up the carpet, since it went under there.

ETA 2: In between calling for the plumber, Mom called Kathy (used bookstore owner). Her question? "Why didn't you use the cut-off valve?" "The valve broke." "Oh, you're in it deep now." Dad says thanks for that, he wasn't sure until now.
