Fannish Items of Interest

Thanks to [personal profile] hils for finding this. Gandalf and the Fellowship vs. the Vuvuzela.

Dark Shadows turns 44, and Sci Fi Wire links to the first episode.

The 12 Most Gimmicky Comic Covers of the 90’s

From Cracked: The 7 Weirdest Origins of Iconic Pop Culture Franchises. I already knew that The Sixth Sense was inspired by an episode of Are You Afraid of The Dark.

There’s yet another casting rumor for X-Men: First Class going around. This time, it’s a rumor claiming Alice Eve is in talks to play Emma Frost. Last time around, it was Rosamund Pike as her, although she was also rumored as being cast as Moira.

There’s casting news for the American version of Being Human. I’ve never seen those three people before, but apparently the one that plays the vampire (I think Mitchell was renamed, but I’m not sure anymore) played Jimmy Olsen in Superman Returns. I didn’t pay much attention to him. He was also in Smallville long after I stopped watching. I’m still not interested in this remake.

ETA: My mistake. It was the one that will be playing George who played Jimmy in Superman Returns. The one playing the American version of Mitchell was the one in Smallville and BSG. Thanks to [personal profile] beeej for pointing that out.

A meeting of famous time travelers, and other bits of science fiction artwork. In the time traveler meeting one, I recognize Kirk and Spock from Star Trek IV, Doc and Marty, Bill and Ted, and that’s it. Who are the others? Oddly, the Doctor isn’t there. For those interested, piece of artwork #7 is the Ghostbusters’ ghost trap. #10 is Hill Valley’s clocktower—look towards the sky of that one to see the flying DeLorean.
