Dwayne McDuffie has passed away, following complications from surgery. May he rest in peace. I’ve never seen Static Shock, Teen Titans, or Ben 10. I haven’t read Firestorm, the time frame he worked on the JLA, Deathlok, or any other comic he wrote. However, I did watch JLU, so I probably saw something he wrote there.

Nicholas Courtney—aka The Brigadier—passed away in the early hours of this morning, at the age of 81. At one point I remember hearing that he suffered a stroke that prevented him from appearing in the same episode as the Tenth Doctor. While early reports said the cause of death had yet to be disclosed, it was related to cancer. I’ve only seen one or two old episodes with him in them, but I liked what I saw, and had hoped he could eventually meet the Eleventh Doctor on screen. May he rest in peace.
