Last Night's Storms
Could someone please give me a recap of what happened on last night’s Dancing With The Stars? I know who was eliminated, thanks to reading
dwts this morning, but other than that nothing—they were busy talking about the massive storms hitting the entire area from 7:30 PM, until sometime after midnight. Since Illinois was getting the worst of it first.
ETA: Never mind about the Dancing With The Stars recap, since I've just managed to locate a download of the results show.
To recap last night:
-Jim Cantore was in Memphis.
-Here, it was ankle deep water outside halfway through the storm, according to the news.
-90 mph winds. Illinois had it worse, with 103 mph winds.
-Hail, massive amounts of golf ball sized hail that spooked the weather lady for a moment. Apparently, it managed to cut power in sections of Lone Oak and other spots just outside of that, but not at our house. The lights flickered for a while. Power lines went down at Super Valu, and a reporter accidentally drove over them.
-The attic leaked a little, as well as the garage, which--since the winds were sideways as well as extreme--was to be expected.
-The news on ABC was saying something about 800 lightning strikes within 15 minutes, and that at one point the sky was green immediately prior to the hail. The lightning allowed people to see that, despite it being night.
-Somewhere (I can’t remember where) a tree was uprooted, flew a slight distance through the air, and crashed through someone’s bedroom ceiling, barely missing a husband and wife. The woman said she always wanted a skylight, before explaining she had insurance.
-In another county, there’s a barn on the interstate.
-It all lasted from 9 PM here, until slightly after midnight, so I’m running on a little over 4 ½ hours of sleep.
As of this morning, it’s clear outside and 60 degrees--it was 88 degrees yesterday evening. When it’s a little lighter outside, Dad will venture out and see how Toby fared.
