Rest In Peace, George A. Romero

George A. Romero has passed away at the age of 77, following a “brief but aggressive” battle with lung cancer. May he rest in peace. He will best be remembered as the man who reinvented zombies, beginning with Night of the Living Dead (1968).

I have never watched Dawn of the Dead (1978), because there apparently are so many versions (I know of at least four) floating around out there that I didn't know which to track down. I did spot Day of the Dead (1985) on Comcast On Demand earlier, so I’ll give it a watch this evening.

"Dawn" is an absolute masterpiece in any edit (certainly more so than the various re-edits and colourizations of "Night"), but I'd recommend Romero's own 126-minute cut if you can choose.
