Rest In Peace, Deborah Watling

Deborah Watling has passed away, at the age of 69, following a battle with lung cancer. May she rest in peace. She played the role of Victoria Waterfield, companion to the Second Doctor, on Doctor Who. Unfortunately, most of her episodes were destroyed.

The Tomb of the Cybermen and The Enemy of the World managed to survive from her tenure on the series, along with the second episode of the serial The Evil of the Daleks.

The haul is a bit larger than that - The Abominable Snowmen 2, The Ice Warriors 1, 4, 5 and 6, and The Web of Fear 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6. But yes, less of her than we feel we should.

Of her later work, she's a semi-regular in Danger UXB which might still be up on YouTube; her character's attempted seduction of Anthony Andrews during an air raid is unnerving!

A great actress, who will be missed by many.

I'd be interested to know what you think of it!

Yes, as the commenter above says, happily we do have a little more than that left of her, but that period was particularly hard hit by burnination.

Sad news! I liked Victoria, but she wasn't a favourite - but Debbie seemed lovely, Victoria got that utterly beautiful moment with Two about lost families in Tomb, and I've also been lately watching her dad Jack in The Power Game.
