JLU: Once and Future Thing, Part 2

Oh, I really loved this episode. It was great. :D

This has to be one of my favorite lines of the show:

Old Bruce: Surprised to see me?
Young Bruce: Not really. Surprised I lived this long.

I was surprised when Diana disappeared. Bruce should have brought a few photos with him to see if they were all vanishing like in Back to the Future.

And when young Bruce and Old Bruce met, I expected some sort of time paradox. Or, a sudden alternate universe, like in Back to the Future Part 2. It was funny when they worked together, though.

Oh, and Old Bruce tortured a bad guy. I assume he either punched him a lot, or beat him with his cane. Did I mishear something or did the bad guy actually say, when they were asking for information: "I wet the bed until I was 14!"

Chronos is definitely nuts. Because of a future that might happen, he sends one of his minions back to the past, just as the meteor hits to wipe out the dinosaurs. Wow.

I loved it when Hal Jordan took John Stewart’s place briefly. Nobody was upset at all. John’s son even said something like: "Will you make up your mind?!"

And did I miss something later, or was Terry actually killed by the Four Didi’s? They didn’t go back to it, other than Bruce’s reaction, so I assume he was either electrocuted or torn apart.

When the universe was ending, was anyone else reminded of Zero Hour?

At the end, when they were going through the time stream, was that supposed to be the Hand of God at the beginning of time? I really wasn’t sure.

I’m not surprised that Diana didn’t remember anything. Since she vanished, she wouldn’t have known about everything that happened. Unfortunately, only Bruce and John remember.

I loved the ending. Chronos and his wife are stuck in a loop. She will be insulting him until the end of time. :D

Does anyone know if this was Pre- or Post- Return of the Joker?

And who exactly is Static? Was he from another show, like Jonah Hex?

Short, suspect notes - I'm faaar from canon sage.

Hand of God: From Crisis on the Infinite Earths, JLA/Avengers and other the-universe-is-ending stuff, that Hand at the Beginning of Time is quite canon. I *think* I remember it's the Antimonitor's (the bad guy from Crisis), but I could be misremembering, I have those issues a thousand miles away.

Static: If you're talking about the Static I think you're talking about, that's Static from DC's Static Shock. It's a very cute superhero show: there was some sort of industrial/lab accident or similar, and a bunch of kids in Dakota end up with superpowers. This show has been tied in with JL toon continuity very strongly and officially - Static and his friend/sidekick/partner Richie have worked with Batman and Robin more than once, saved the Watchtower, etc. It's a fun, relatively angst-free show, although the villains are perhaps not as well developed as the heroes (but that's just my opinion).

I didn't see the episode, but if there was a hand at the beginning of time, it belongs to whatever created the universe. That's DC continuity at it's finest. Krona, one of the Guardians of the Universe, became obsessed with finding out the beginnings of the universe, and traveled back to observe it. He saw a giant hand, stretching through the primordial stew...the sight drove him mad, IIRC.

I think my favorite part of the show was Bruce and Batman playing good cop bad cop. JLU has softened Batman's character a little too much for my taste, so it was nice to see the more hardened character back in action.

I was a bit dissapoited, thouch that the show didn't have any bm/ww shippiness and that they had to cram so much into a half hour. It may have played better for an hour eppy. IMHO of course.

It was pre-Rotj - the big clown member of the Jokerz dies in that film.
