For The Essay...

As I write the Batman/Catwoman essay, I've decided that at the very beginning of it I need to have an image of them in their first meeting. Similar to how I did the Oracle/Nightwing essay.

My problem is this: Which trade paperback would be best for showing an image like that? A lot of trades tend to show their first meeting. Or what image would be best?

Er, Batman: Year One or Catwoman: Her Sister's Keeper would be the definitive ones. Any others are usually just artistic reinterpertations. You want me to find a few or cobble together the civilian meeting vs the costumed meeting?

This good? (http://kkglinka.hispeed.com/temp/ship_cat_bat.jpg)

Images from Batman #404, Catwoman Mini #4 and Catwoman: When in Rome #4 (which recaps their first meeting from Year One - which I don't have). As you know, there are two actual first meetings, and that's if you don't count Selina and Bruce the socialites later on.

Right, it's the sole issue I have. Since every Cat scene except for the Roman's Rooftop encounter is in HSK, I've never picked up the trade. Might now though, since that new edition is coming out.

The art tricks a lot of people, though. Mazzucchelli is the artist in YO and Blair, the artist in HSK, lifts a lot of scenes directly, but he redrew them (AFAIK). He did a real good job imitating.
