Batman Begins

I just got back from the movie. It was wonderful.

30 minutes before I left to go see it, the power went out. Thankfully, it came back on and I was able to go.



First? I smuggled in water--good thing too, since the water they did have cost $3.00. And that's in a very small half-pint size, too.

The tickets cost a grand total of $5.25. My sister decided to stay home, but Dad came along. The sound wasn't too loud--Dad had brought along ear plugs just in case it was. Someone brought a baby to the movie--thankfully, it slept through the entire thing.

Before the movie, they had a few previews. One of those previews? For Serenity. It looks like it will be great. I won't be going to see that one, but I will definitely be buying it on DVD.

And then, Batman Begins. As I said before, I loved it. Liam Neeson is a great villain. I'm glad he was Ra's al Ghul, and not the other guy. The other guy seemed less like Ra's should be.

Michael Caine is perfect as Alfred. As is Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox. And Lucius definitely knows the truth, he's just not telling. Alfred gave Bruce a lot of lectures, and constantly gave him support, so they got the character perfectly written.

I was surprised that they burned down Wayne Manor, and destroyed Wayne Towers, though. Although, seeing Gordon try to drive the Batmobile was very funny.

Anyone else think one of Ra's al Ghul's minions will just find the body (Unless it was vaporized--that's possible.), and dump it in a Lazarus Pit?

Oh, and I've heard that there were a lot of Arkham Asylum inmates who were familiar. The only one I saw was Zsasz, though. Who were the others?

Based on what I've been reading lately, Katie Holmes won't be in the sequel, if they do one. Mostly because of how she's acted, and how she hasn't been advertising the movie--she's been busy advertising her relationship with Tom Cruise.

ETA: Oh, and when there were thousands of bats around young Bruce? This was Dad's reaction.

Dad: Ick. Bats.
Me: I think they're cute.
Dad: Are you sure you're my daughter?



*Goes to read the novelization, to see if there is any difference between the movie and the book.*

I am definitely buying this movie when it comes out on DVD.

I was surprised that they even showed it. In between a strange movie with planes being blown up, and a preview for The Dukes of Hazzard.

Heh, shows how much their not-playing-Serenity-trailer worked for me. I can't remember any of the trailers, apart from Fantastic Four (a given), and War of the Worlds (being promoted as much as Serenity isn't over here).

Yes, the Fantastic Four preview was right after Serenity. I don't think they showed one for War of the Worlds.

Dad and I had this conversation about River during the previews:

Dad: So..she's like Buffy or something?
Me: Not even close. She's human, not a Slayer. Besides, there aren't Slayers in this show.
Dad: Is she an alien?
Me: No aliens in this show. The government cut apart her brain, and made her schizophrenic.
Dad: Oh. Ew.

Wow. No promoting War of the Worlds? We can't go anywhere without seeing advertising or interviews (Tom Cruise's presense overrides normal ignoring of scifi in the biz).

As for River, well, she could be the greatest Slayer ever. Just depends on how exactly she can kill with her brain. :lol:

I don't know which one was Freeze but I saw a short shaggy one. Do you mean Batgirl was in Arkham? I know a Barbara Gordon was credited but the child looked like a blond boy to me, so I assumed it was his soon to be estranged son. Ergo, Barbara was his wife, soon to divorce him.

I was wondering that, too. Barbara Gordon/Batgirl wasn't there at all.

The Barbara Gordon there was probably Gordon's wife. The Barbara Gordon that becomes Batgirl is his niece, and wasn't there. Yes, that baby was definitely his soon-to-be-estranged son, named James.

Great googly moogly! What a ripoff! That's what, 300mL? I can get 600mL from any vending machine for far less, even without converting currencies.

And the whole having to smuggle things in... pfff, it's as if they *want* more competition from DVDs et al ;)

And about the bats? Oh, that comment's so you :D :lol:

Hey, I had a brief obsession with bats when I was little. I had a lot of books about the subject, and at the time I knew the differences in each species. (And I was 4!)

This probably all came from the fact that we went to a local store to see the fireworks outside. Bats were flying around the tall light posts in the dark, and I thought that was more interesting.

Probably never, since shortly after that the store went out of business and was torn down.

And the icon I'm using now, will be how I feel without a computer. :D
