The Bathroom Floor Problem
Since the tile of the bathroom floor--and apparently underneath that, too--has problems, Dad is going to try to fix it. All by himself. He's going to start digging in the tile, and try to figure it all out.
So, since I won't have a bathroom, everyone is moving over to my grandmother's old house until he's done.
Which means no access to the internet at all--or even a computer.
I have no idea when I'll get to move back over here. (Sorry, Sean!)
I think it would be quicker if he would just call the plumber, but Dad likes to do things the hard way, rather than the easy way...
ETA: Forgot to mention that this should start tomorrow morning.

CALL PROFESSIONALS NOW!
NO NO NO Doing it his own self!
Get professionals in! I had my shower recess redone last year (or the year before?) and it was Bigger than Ben Hur! And this was just the shower, let alone the whole bathroom.
Concreting, waterproofing stuff, setting tiles, grout, finishing (and that's just from memory)... trust me, this is one for the pros.
The only positive about this is not having to wait for workmen who don't show up for yonks(but still gotta wait between each stage anyways for stuff to dry/set), but it's a bigger task than it looks on the surface.

But anyway, I didn't have time to articulate properly this morning:
All those things I mentioned? They were all done by different people. Someone would do the base concreting, later after that was ready someone else came in to do the waterproofing etc (don't remember what it was, apart from yellow when applied), and a week or so later someone else again came to measure, tile etc...
All this and more, for one little shower recess. Unless your dad is very handy with all things above and up for days upon days of physical work between waiting, I still say get people in.
(and if you say he's in the building business, specialising in bathrooms - [Jack]I am not listening, I am not listening lalalala[/Jack] )
And you'll need to find a way to take your computer too, unless you want to be without a fair amount of time. I stopped counting how long the shower thing was, it was just far too long (who can tell I prefer showers to baths?). Or at least a typewriter to try stave off computer withdrawal... ;)

But yes, he is horrible at home repairs. There's a neighbor who has had to a lot of home repair herself, and he wants to call her, and let her talk him through it. (She's 80--and her brothers and sisters want her to do everything for them. Out of town at the moment, so no help for him from that corner.)

If your dad isn't too home repairy, then definately not a job for him. This will take weeks if not over a month, depending on how much of the bathroom needs re-doing. Getting everything all smoothly done in the concreting and waterproofing, fitting all the tiles to the room, keeping them up and even between the... um... gluing? of the tiles to walls and floor and the grouting of the whole thing. Big and fiddly.

The only way to do get further than breaking old tiles in two hours is to steal another
housebathroom with a transporter :lol:no subject
