Pre-Crisis Question

I'm in the middle of writing the ship_manifesto essay, and was going to put in a section on Pre-Crisis.

Pre-Crisis, did Alfred and Leslie ever meet? I know that she didn't know that Bruce was Batman in the Pre-Crisis version of her character.

From the DCU Guide, based on the dates anyway, Leslie only appeared to have a few pre-Crisis appearances:

Detective Comics #457 (March 1976): "There is No Hope in Crime Alley"
Detective Comics #483 (April-May 1979): "The Curse of Crime Alley"
Batman Special #1 (1984): "The Player on the Other Side"

She doesn't encounter Alfred in that first story, but I'm not sure about the other two. Since Leslie was still the one who appeared when his parents died, it seems logical that she had some contact with Alfred.

Thank you. Yes, I had seen that biography of her before. I had never found a mention of her being anything other than the old lady Batman visits once a year. Pre-Crisis, anyway.

I was never sure if she met Alfred Pre-Crisis. I'll check those other two stories.

I found those two stories and she wasn't shown with Alfred. In fact, she only interacted with Batman, never Bruce, which I found odd, but maybe not. She basically was the little old lady Batman visits in those issues. I think the post-Crisis of her is much stronger.

Ah, good. I won't really need a section on Pre-Crisis, then.

I definitely agree with you on that point. She even stands up to Batman when he's at his broodiest. She's not afraid of him.
