I've seen several Livejournals where links are put on the left hand side of the page. How is that done?

Just a different format choice in your preferences (customizing) page

I think it depends on the layout you select. Try going into your style and fiddling with it. Somewhere in there should be a space to put links and their titles. If you have a paid account and use certain styles it gets really easy.

Hey -- some formats support a links list, and some do not.

First go to the customize page -- this may be mostly for s2, but it looks like you have the s2 mode rather than the s1 mode.

Near the bottom of the page, you should see a "links list" option. Add a link or two following the instructions, and see whether they end up on your page or no. You should also be able to choose which side you want the links on, if that's what you're looking for.
