Lightning, And A Question

In the middle of a conversation on ICQ this morning, lightning struck in the front yard. There was a bright white light, the floor shook, and a very loud boom/bang. I immediately shut down the computer, just in case it happened to hit again. Thankfully, it missed the tree.

Incredibly, the cat slept through it.

I've checked, and based on what I can tell with it raining a little, there's a tiny singed area.

Now, for the question. I'm writing about Booster and Beetle in other media in the [community profile] ship_manifesto essay. I know that Blue Beetle hasn't appeared in Justice League Unlimited due to some sort of a copyright problem. Does anyone know the exact reason? (I know for a fact that Booster Gold has appeared. It was the first episode of JLU that I ever saw. Can't remember the title at the moment, but I'll look it up.)

"Greatest Story Never Told" was the Booster Gold episode. He also does a lot of "walk throughs."

Really? I know he was in one of the comics for JLU.

That's beyond lame.

What I've heard through the grapevine is that Ted can't be in any radio or TV shows until 2007 (maybe movies too, I don't know) because of the Blue Beetle radio show from waaaay back in I think the forties? Ironically enough that BB was of course Dan Garrett and not a DC character at the time, but I guess the restrictions still hold. Ted is, however, in the JLU tie-in comic, and has even been seen with Booster in it. *points to icon*

You should check out this article (http://www.moviepoopshoot.com/comics101/127.html), which has a lot of information on all Blue Beetles, including the radio show, and is basically just a fascinating read.

The copyright that DC bought from Charlton had a clause regarding Beetle appearing in any media other than comics. They could have him for comics and print media, but not radio, tv, or film.
I, too, heard that that rule expires somehow in 2007. I'm not sure if that is just a rumor, though.

I'd dig around the lightning strike a bit. Sometimes there's so much heat that it turns the surrounding soil/sand into glass called a fulgerite. That'd be one heck of a gift from Fire and Earth.
