Tornadoes

Apparently, around 2 AM last night, Henderson, Kentucky was hit by a tornado which wiped out a lot of the area.

Then, Crittenden County was hit. That county is just a few miles from where I am, and phones and internet were down for a while. From what I've heard, there was a lot of damage. There weren't any sirens going off where I am, so I didn't hear about it until this morning.

Thankfully, the tornadoes didn't hit this county, and the phones and internet are back.

ETA: Just checked, and it's on the front page of MSNBC's website.

Were any other counties hit in Kentucky? My roommate went home for the weekend, and she's in McCracken -- which isn't too far from those two, if I'm not mistaken.

I saw it on CNN's front page this morning. I didn't realize you lived in that area. Glad you're okay.

How could we possibly be prepared for a tornado in a place that runs the sirens for practice relatively often (not to mention for thunderstorm warnings too) and lets the only warning to people be the TV - even when the warning comes out past 1 AM?

I live over in SouthEastern Ky, in Bath County. Was really sad when I got up to hear that allot of damage, and even worse, some deaths had resulted from tornados running through the area. My thoughts and prayers are with all those that's had their lives devastated by it all.

And it is great to know that the worst of the weather missed your county and that other than the temporary loss of phones and internet for a bit, that are otherwise safe and well.
