Cartoons That Few Remember…

Yes, I dug through Youtube again. I also found quite a few classic shows--classics, for me at least. The rest of the world probably either never saw these shows, or didn’t watch them enough to remember them. Beneath the cut, you will find quite a few of these.

The intro for The Incredible Hulk. This was from the early 80’s—I loved it when I was little.

And the transformation scene.

The trailer for He-Man And She-Ra: Secret of the Sword. Who knew it was at the theatre?! I remember watching it on television. And after checking IMDB, it was at the theatre in 1985. I was probably busy going to see (and being traumatized by) Rainbow Brite And The Star Stealer at the time.

I found The Inhumanoids! Does anyone else remember this show?

And another show that probably no one will remember. Visionaries. Here’s an entire episode.

Did anyone ever watch Madballs? I loved it at the time. As if you needed more proof I was really morbid...

Sadly, even though I was able to find these shows they didn’t have Moon Dreamers or Rose Petal Place. Or Star Fairies. I might be the only person left who remembers the latter.

The intro for The Glo Friends. For years, I thought the name was Glow Worms.

The Popples Intro.

Rainbow Brite cereal commercial.

Part of the original Rainbow Brite movie. Not the one with the Starstealer. This is the one where Rainbow Brite had to save a baby, met that horse that flew and defrosted him, fought a vulture, and brought color to the world. I used to have a few minutes (possibly the final 30 minutes) of this on VHS, but I have never seen the entire thing.

An episode of Silverhawks. Look up Silverhawks at Youtube and you can find a few more episodes.

An episode of The Snorks.

The theatrical trailer for Return to Oz. Raise your hand if this movie traumatized you as a child. Who here remembers Princess Momba taking off her head, and all of the heads screaming at once when Dorothy breaks in? That scene is actually uploaded to Youtube, by the way.

ETA: Okay, the link to the Rainbow Brite movie is being weird. You apparently have to sign in before you can watch. I don't know why, since there isn't any bad content. Youtube must think there is.

*Raises hand*

I need to rewatch that movie. If only for teeny tiny Fairuza Balk.

Ah, 80's cartoons! Sweetie, I remember all of those and more! (I even have several episodes on tape . . . and not just VHS, but Betamax if you can believe it.)

And yes, I did see Secret of the Sword in theaters! ;)

My father bought our first VCR (a Beta) when I was about 5 years old. Now, twenty-five years later, he STILL has it, and it STILL works perfectly. (We've gone through several VHS models in that time.) My copy of Return to OZ is on Beta. :)

Ah, Rainbow Brite. I actually have the entire collection of that show (including the theatrical movie). I also have Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, Dungeons & Dragons, The Littles, and My Little Pony (although the last is *very* worn out with age).

Hooray for old-school toons! :)

Ah, that's too bad considering there was nothing really bad about it (other than it tended to be a little darker than many other shows at the time, though no more so than Gargoyles, X-Men or Batman were in the 90's). In fact, I consider it one of the better programs of its day.

Spider-Man of the 80's was pure cheese! (Hee! Awesomeness!) But, yes, if one is looking for quality, the updated versions of many shows are far superior.

Thanks for the links, by the way. What a walk down memory lane! :)

Traumatized by Strawberry Shortcake? Well, that Peculiar Purple Pieman of Porcupine Peak was pretty petrifying! :)

You may have enjoyed D&DC later in life, though. (Michael Reaves, one of the show's head writers, was also one of the co-creators of Gargoyles.)

If you can find Pirates of Dark Water, I'll love you forever! :)

Oh, you wonderful person, you! What a lovely day this is for nostalgia!

*twirls you*

*adds this post to memories*

Whee! :)

And I have the comic book series. Hee.

Incredible Hulk I remember. It was a favorite. As were the Snorks. I vaguely recall Inhumanoids, Glo Friends, and Popples.

Haven't seen Return to Oz in forever. Yeah, that scene with the heads was pretty scary for me. I had nightmares about that one. LOL

Dood. Now I feel old. I was all of ten at the time. *sigh*

And another show that probably no one will remember. Visionaries.

I remember that! I think it showed after Transformers on Wac-a-Day

Ahh, those were the days. One episode a week, split into four minute segments aired one a day. At 6am, and we liked it gosh-darn-it, because that's all we got.

Not remember Visionaries? I own the dvd! :D

This is predominantly a UK site, but it has lots of good stuff on it:

I saw an ep of Visionaries once, and had a comic novel of it...

"Return to Oz" *still* scares me.

OT post, asking to swipe an icon of yours

[identity profile] kungfunurse.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hiya! Sorry for the OT post, but I wasn't able to find an email addy for you. I saw your post on [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily and am a die-hard fan of Batman/Superman. Would you mind terribly if I swiped your "call him Spooky" icon with credit to you?

Also, D&DC was the best cartoon of it's day. All my little friends wanted to play with their barbies and do those puzzle games to figure out who you were going to marry and what kind of wedding you would have... all I wanted to know was if Cavalier was ever going to grow a spine, and what would happen to the kids if they grew up before they ever got home.

Raise your hand if this movie traumatized you as a child.

*raises hand*

I was seeing it with my cousin when we were both eight and she made her dad take us out of the theatre halfway through; she was too scared. I was scared, but I still thought she was a wuss.

Also, I remember not only the inhumanoids, but Visionaries.
