Spider-Man 3
Before I say anything else--this is the only Spider-Man related icon I have, no anger involved.
Okay, I just got back from seeing Spider-Man 3, and here I’ve posted my reactions to certain points beneath the cut. In no particular order...
-Since Dad bought the tickets for the movie last week, we avoided the long line at 10:45 AM, and walked right in. Resisting the urge to taunt the other people for not thinking ahead.
-Peter is utterly clueless when it comes to women, but I liked the scene where Bruce Campbell and the waiters kept having to leave because Peter kept randomly waving.
-During the odd rip-off of Saturday Night Fever, the entire audience groaned in horror--some laughed. I covered my eyes when I realized what he was ripping off, while Dad cackled. Possessed Peter needs to wash his hair, by the way. Just saying that possession by a symbiote apparently causes greasy hair, and an odd hairstyle. Loved the women running away during the weird Saturday Night Fever montage, though.
-Right at the point where Peter and Harry were fighting over some sort of knife, and it looked like Peter was stabbed? Well, that’s when the theatre’s lights went out and the movie stopped. One boy in the audience screamed "You have got to be freaking kiddin’ me!" Dad said, "You can't leave it there!" After a minute and a half (where the lights came back on) the movie restarted from where we left off, and there was actually applause.
-When Peter and Mary Jane broke up, the same boy that shrieked out the “freakin’ kiddin’ me” line, started doing fake sobbing.
-I absolutely loved the part where JJJ was constantly being reminded of his medicine...and the part later on with the kid making him pay extra for film from her camera.
-It seemed odd that the entire city loves Spider-Man now. I guess they learned to ignore JJJ's rants?
-Stan Lee actually had a line for Peter. I was looking for him everywhere else through the beginning of the movie, and didn’t expect him to actually talk to Peter. Sadly, he didn’t scream “Excelsior!” or “That’s right, true believers!” as he left...but he did say “’Nuff said!”
-I finally liked Harry. (Although his Dad is likely ticked off in Supervillain Hell, because Harry became a good guy) Amazing. And he seemed to be written better in this one than in the other two movies. He had a good death scene, too. By the way, before I went to see the movie I read somewhere that there were some slashy vibes between Peter and Harry as they held hands. I agree...I think even Dad saw it.
-Mary Jane needs to quit waiting for Harry and Peter to rescue her, and simply climb down the webbing and swing like Tarzan. Didn’t happen, but it would have been funny to see her beat them down to safety.
-I think they did a great job with Venom. And the cage with the constant sonic rings was a great idea--even if they didn't have a top layer. Also, unless a bit of the symbiote is hiding somewhere and regrowing, I guess it won’t come back to give birth to Carnage. Especially since they apparently killed Eddie. I kind of liked him.
-On another Venom note, I liked the church and belltower scene. They basically stuck with the comics for that one. Even if in the comics, Eddie hated Spider-Man, and not Peter--at first, anyway.
-Bryce Dallas Howard did a great job of making Gwen Stacy a likeable character with a bit of depth. Until now, I had never liked the character at all. Also, I expected Captain Stacy to get crushed to death under debris, but I guess that didn’t happen. Expected Gwen to die, but I guess they’re saving that for another movie.
-Sandman was someone I didn’t care for through most of the movie...mostly due to the fact that he was played by the guy who played Ned on Ned and Stacey, and Lowell on Wings. Still, he was okay in the end when he explained what happened with Uncle Ben.
-And here’s some random trivia: In Wizard Magazine, I read that the role of Mary Jane was originally going to go to Eliza Dushku--I don’t know why it didn’t. I think she would have looked closer to what Mary Jane should be, but I don’t know how she would look with red hair...and I would keep waiting for her to grab a stake and go off into the night killing vampires.
-All in all, I guess I would rate the movie 7/10. A point or two was lost due to all of Mary Jane's singing, and the weird strut down the sidewalk that was stolen from Saturday Night Fever.
-Oh, also? Is it just me (likely), or did the roof of Harry’s mansion/building sort of look like Dana’s building from Ghostbusters? Whatever it was, something about that roof looked very familiar.
-On a related note, I was waiting for Sandman to step on a church when he got huge, and wanted to hear Peter scream "Nobody steps on a church in my town!" Yes, I'm a Ghostbusters geek.

Dr. Conner's has a piece of it! Remember? Peter gave it to him to experiment on.
Expected Gwen to die, but I guess they’re saving that for another movie.
Same here! But I guess they may have Carnage do it, since they have that left over piece of the symbiote.

Speaking of future villain appearances, was it just me, or have they finally removed Curt Connors' arm?

This is the closest I have to a Spider-Man icon, no Spidey involved for almost a year after!
-Since Dad bought the tickets for the movie last week, we avoided the long line at 10:45 AM, and walked right in. Resisting the urge to taunt the other people for not thinking ahead.
Yes, I'm being blinded by your halo from here
Ah, the joys of going to cinemas and times which mean I don't even have to think about booking. Natasha and I just rocked up about a half-hour before, got our tickets and waited for the previous movie to end (lunchtime sesh, second of the day so we got the better screen in the place).
-Peter is utterly clueless when it comes to women, but I liked the scene where Bruce Campbell and the waiters kept having to leave because Peter kept randomly waving.
Even I noticed how clueless he is, and I wrote the book on cluelessness! I was cringing a bit when he just kept digging himself deeper and deeper... (and mentally doing the "I can seeeeeee you!" scene).
And it'd be fun to be able to play with people like the Maitre d' did :D
And speaking of Bruce Campbell, did you notice the other Xena alumnus in there? Ted Raimi as JJJ's publicist...
-During the odd rip-off of Saturday Night Fever, the entire audience groaned in horror--some laughed. I covered my eyes when I realized what he was ripping off, while Dad cackled. Ah, so that's what he was doing - I figured he must be imitating something, but never saw SNF. For me it was in the so bad it's funny category. And if it's the symbiote causing the hair thing, then someone needs to find Peter Petrelli or Sylar soon :P (they're who I was thinking on seeing him like that).
-Right at the point where Peter and Harry were fighting over some sort of knife, and it looked like Peter was stabbed? Well, that’s when the theatre’s lights went out and the movie stopped.
It got a bit much for the projectionist? Tension building device?
During the fight, my reaction? "Won't anybody please think of the poor old butler who has to clean all this up?"
-When Peter and Mary Jane broke up, the same boy that shrieked out the “freakin’ kiddin’ me” line, started doing fake sobbing.
Aye, we had a bunch of "lads" in the back of the cinema commenting loudly, hur hur hur...
-I absolutely loved the part where JJJ was constantly being reminded of his medicine...and the part later on with the kid making him pay extra for film from her camera.
Poor JJJ, no respect, no respect I tells ya... and I'm surprised that intercom didn't shake the bottles off his desk!
-It seemed odd that the entire city loves Spider-Man now. I guess they learned to ignore JJJ's rants?
Well, it's because they know Spidey's a 'scan. If he'd been a mutie then he'd've been run out of town (if he's lucky) by 10am the morning the Thief! article ran.
-Stan Lee actually had a line for Peter. I was looking for him everywhere else through the beginning of the movie, and didn’t expect him to actually talk to Peter. Sadly, he didn’t scream “Excelsior!”
Well, it's the wrong fandom and century for the Excelsior... *runs away ;)* And hey, why not make the most of a cameo and actually talk to the star? And notice at the key ceremony that the band was playing the tv series theme?

-I finally liked Harry.
Aye... although for me it took until after the butler told him it wasn't Peter who killed his father *awards him an honorary Alfredship*. Up until then I thought he was just some rich ******* who thought money could buy him anything and anyone. Just without the evil charm of a Luthor.
-Mary Jane needs to quit waiting for Harry and Peter to rescue her, and simply climb down the webbing and swing like Tarzan. Didn’t happen, but it would have been funny to see her beat them down to safety.
This is a good point  Has she made a habit of this? (SM-2 won't be on for another few minutes, and I'll be a bit distracted by someone while it's on ;)) And funnier if she'd proven to have her own powers, and rescued the rescuers...
Venom: RRAAAHHH!
MJ: Hi guys!
Everyone: *looks up*
MJ: *gives the good ol' Fire and Life Incarnate speech* :D
Actually, probably thanks to certain big damn movies and similar that shall remain nameless, I was convinced that MJ would die in this movie. I so totally cringed when she said for Peter to meet her on a bridge! (and relieved when it was a tiny bridge, not the kind where comicsGwen met her fate). And when MJ was finally inside the building, and not dangling anymore... meep...
-I think they did a great job with Venom. And the cage with the constant sonic rings was a great idea--even if they didn't have a top layer.
Interesting idea yes, but you've seen the slight technical hitch with that... it took the builders ages to find the right set of musical pipes too
-Sandman was someone I didn’t care for through most of the movie...
I didn't see either of those shows (and only half saw the first film), so I liked having him there, rather an alternative to the other raving loonies when they pop up in attack mode, to have someone having everything fall apart, circumstance instead of vendetta.
Oh, since I'm too lazy to Wiki, could Sandman kill someone the same way as Dust?
Mary Jane's singing
Actually, when we first see her come down the stairs in the play, I was thinking "What if that was Amanda..."
And isn't MJ's singing punished enough by what she has to put up with while at work in the club? *severe ouches*
-Oh, also? Is it just me (likely), or did the roof of Harry’s mansion/building sort of look like Dana’s building from Ghostbusters?
Get me a picture and I'll see
There is no Harry, only Zuul!
Yes, I'm a Ghostbusters geek.
I know! :D
