If you liked the character interaction of s1 of Doctor Who or you just like quirky characters and scene settings, I'd suggest you give Pushing Daisies a chance when it finally starts. I just saw the pilot and loved it.

I highly recommend Supernatural if you haven't already seen it. There are scares and much prettiness, supported by great dialogue and acting that you see visbly improve from good enough to stellar as the show progresses.

Also I really enjoyed Dexter. It's an unusual premise for a show with an unlikely and oddly sympathetic titular character.

For movies I would rec Breaking and Entering with Jude Law, Robin Wright Penn and Juliette Binoche. I would pretty much give all the main cast some kind of gong for their performance but Jude Law is outstanding. Also I love the clever use of camera angles and the way they filmed some of my most precious parts of London. Another of my firm favourites, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is worth watching if you haven't already seen it. I much prefer Jim Carrey in dramatic roles like this one. Elijah Wood plays deliciously against type with this and Mark Ruffalo is as always a treat.
