The Possession of Marlena
For those that are Days of Our Lives fans, and care, tonight there is a three episode marathon on Soapnet. It’s from the 1995 Possession of Marlena storyline. That’s the storyline where I first started watching, so I’m definitely going to tape it. It’s from 8 PM until 11 PM, CST, I think. You can read a bit about what the episodes are in the comments to this post.
I went over to Youtube to see if anyone had uploaded anything from that storyline--and I found part of an episode that aired shortly after I first started watching. Marlena morphs into a demon and throws Stefano off the balcony. For those that wonder, Stefano landed in a tree and fell the rest of the way.
This led to Stefano having amnesia--until he was struck by lightning a little later, I think. You can see the pitiful demon effect here. Back then, I thought it was scary. I was probably only 13 ½. Oh, and the day I started watching was the day before Tony (these days they say it was Andre) killed himself to frame John.
And here’s part of the morgue battle to save Marlena’s soul. I can’t find the rest, which includes an angel (disguised as a homeless person) exorcising Marlena. If I could find that part, it would also include after she was freed, when John carried her body into the church. Caroline looked at him, and said “Oh, John. How could you?” because everyone thought she was still dead. He looked at Marlena and looked up, and said “Show them what you showed me.” She said hi to everyone and people cried.
EDIT: Never mind. I did more searching and found that scene I described. You can watch it here. I still haven’t found the rest of the battle in the morgue.

And all my other favorites were going, or gone (I loved the original Jack and Jennifer, and Tony as well) so I finally gave up.
I still tune in now and then just to see who's still on there, but I haven't been a regular watcher for quite some time.

I remember that I only wanted to watch until the end of that possession story, and then I just wanted to see who Sami was, and then I just wanted to see who the father of her baby was, and then years went by and I realized I was hopelessly addicted. *laughs*
I managed to put up with the Salem Serial Killer story, but I hated that one.

I can't remember which Bo was on then, but I liked the replacement Bo better than the original (the one who *wasn't* Peter Reckel, or whatever his name was).
I know how easy it is to get addicted. I was the same way for so long. Then my schedule changed, and my free time became less...well, free. Now I watch about half as much TV as I used to, and no soaps at all. Still, it's fun to take a stroll down memory lane every once in a while.

That aspect of the story wasn't mentioned on Wikipedia, but on Soap Central it said this: "Isabella appeared as part of Satan's plot in 1995, and later as a pure ghost of herself."
