Holiday Wish List Meme, And Something Doctor Who Related
I discovered a Doctor Who rating group, and as of right now—with one vote—it looks like they think I might be like Nyssa. The group is
doctorwhorating and my post is here, if anyone is interested in this sort of thing. Going by the sheer number of people you could be rated with, they are very thorough over there.
And the following meme was taken from
wachey: The Holiday Wishes Meme.
Holiday Wishes Meme
Step One
Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me.") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD.") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
If you wish for real life things (not stories or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
Surf around your friends list (or friends friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use — or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free — do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf — to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not — it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
It’s always hard for me to come up with anything for this type of meme, so I’ll just try to think of what I can. I’ll mostly stick to fanfic and icons.
1. To have a few ideas for the drabble marathon over on
lifeonmartha. I want to write a drabble involving Martha at some point. Or maybe even have someone on my friends list randomly throwing a prompt or two my way.
2. An icon in the Doctor Who fandom involving the Ninth Doctor, Tenth Doctor, Jack, or maybe even Martha or Donna, with my username on it. Just one of those would be nice.
3. For the weather to stop being so freakish and insane--it can’t be done, but one can hope.
4. Someone to write a fanfic, based on that Rocky Horror/Doctor Who dream I had—I mentioned it a few posts back, and posted about it at
time_bunnies. Ah, here’s the post.
5. Someone to write a fanfic set sometime after 42--the Doctor gets possessed by that sun creature again. Or just gets possessed by something similar. Whether or not it ends well or horribly is up to the writer, but it would be nice if it was longer than a drabble. Can I help it if I love seeing the Doctor possessed?
6. I love my Tara banner and layout, but someday I might want a banner that relates to Martha. Just for a change.
7. More people to comment on my fanfic.
8. If you have a tendency to lurk on my journal and you aren’t friended, please just pop in and say hello.
9. Good health for the next year and beyond for me--and everyone I know.
10. To find sites that are just as good as Demonoid and TV Links--and that don’t get shut down within a year of my discovering them. That's just wishful thinking.
