Memes, And Their Answers

Here’s a meme and then answers for another meme.

First, the poll meme, taken from [livejournal.com profile] maygra.

Here is a poll box where you can ask me ANYTHING you want but no one but ME can see your questions. Then in another post I'll answer them all without attaching the name of the person who asked. So you can ask me ANYTHING. Really embarrassing stuff! Really inappropriate stuff! No one will know you asked, and I will be as honest as I know how in the answering.

Okay, since I tried to extend the amount of words allowed in the poll, it might break some friends’ lists. Due to this, I’m putting it beneath the cut--just in case.

ETA: Hmm...anyone know how to make that poll so nobody but me can see the answers?

ETA 2: Okay, that question was answered. Just so people know, the answers will remain viewable to others, so I won't repost unless it's a matter of life or death. And I doubt any questions will be like that.

[Poll #1095495]

And now, another meme--this time with my answers to questions others have asked.

Rules:

1. Leave me a casual comment of no particular significance, like a lyric to your favorite song.
2. I will respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to these questions.
4. Include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in your own post.
5. When others respond with a random comment, you will ask them five questions.

As put in the LJ cut, this first set of questions was from [livejournal.com profile] jen_in_japan.

First, the questions:
1. Which incarnation of the Doctor is your least favorite and why?
2. What was the first slash pairing that caught your interest?
3. How'd you get involved in DC fandom?
4. In one sentence, how would you describe your approach to life?
5. If you were stuck on a desert island with a DVD player and had to watch one movie on continuous loop, which would you choose?

Now, the answers:
1. As of right now, my least favorite is the Sixth Doctor. From what I’ve seen of him, he just seems like a jerk--that’s the best I can describe him. Oh, and that multi-colored horror of a coat is headache inducing.

2. Duncan/Methos, I think. The first slash related story I ever read (when I didn’t know what slash was) was Archangel Redeemed. That’s one of the best ones I have ever read in the Highlander fandom.

3. I read Batman comics for a very brief time when I was 3, and didn’t care for them. I didn’t get into DC until around 2000, maybe? Maybe a little before, but I’m not sure. It was at some point around there, since I mostly stuck with Marvel for a very long time.

4. If you can survive the madness, life should get a little more interesting. Or weirder. It’s just a matter of time. That was more than one sentence, but that’s the best I can think of at the moment.

5. Anyone that knows me knows what my answer will be: Ghostbusters.

The questions from [livejournal.com profile] dragonbat2006:
1. How old were you the first time you saw Ghostbusters?
2. What got you into fanfic writing?
3. If you could be any kind of tree, what tree would you be?
4. Most fun holiday you ever had?
5. 20 years from now, what is the one thing you haven't done yet that you most want to be able to look back and say you did?

Now, the answers.

1. I was 3 or 4 when I first saw the Ghostbusters movie. However, since I was too young for a lot of the stuff in it, and it might cause nightmares, Dad stayed up for the entire night after we rented it, taped it on one VCR, and edited out any scary scenes by sticking commercials in their place. The next day, we watched it together, with me being amused by the fact the commercials were for car dealers--and involved ghosts, since it was apparently near Halloween. However, he didn’t edit out the sound of the scenes--so as I mentioned in the past, you can hear Dana screaming as she’s dragged away to be possessed--but you see the best deals on the local car lot. *laughs*

I believe that he also somehow muted out all curse words or insults. I never saw the unedited version until I was 10 or 11, and we briefly got HBO. To this day, I think the demon dogs are cute. Oh, and I finally got a chance to watch the movie in a theatre when it was shown around Halloween.

2. I started out trying to write Willow Rosenberg for an RPG. I then started writing answers to prompts posted in groups, to try to get a better handle on her character and a few others. Then, it turned into drabbles. That turned into pairing essays. Then, I signed up for a ficathon, and wrote actual fanfic. Going through my tags, the first real fanfic I wrote was in the Firefly fandom, for [livejournal.com profile] serenity_santa

3. Oak? I really don’t know, but that’s the first thing that came to mind.

4. Naturally, Halloween. It’s my favorite holiday. I have two favorite Halloween moments, and they’re tied for best ones for me, so I’ll describe both for this meme. My family all went to a haunted house--excluding Mom, since she doesn’t care for those. While waiting in line to go inside, I spotted the boy that lived next door to us. We went in right behind him. I thought he knew I was there, so when it was dark I put my hand on his shoulder so I wouldn’t run into a wall--just as arms came out of the walls. I was fine with it all, but he shrieked and ran off.

Further into the haunted house, there was a tiny bridge thing. As I walked over, someone grabbed my ankle. I didn’t pay attention, stomped the hand, and continued on, thinking it was just a rubber thing sticking out. I heard moans of agony, and the hand was firm, so it was a person. Oops. *laughs*

At that same level is a haunted house I went to a couple years back. People with chainsaws randomly ran at me (I looked at him, then at Dad who had jumped, and calmly said, “Oh, look. It’s Leatherface.” Then waved when he looked confused at my lack of fear.), I walked up to something and got splattered with what was supposed to be fake blood, fake rats were covered in fake blood and put on fishing poles--just as people walked by, they would slap the back of someone’s neck.

All great--but the boy behind us was traumatized by the entire thing, and shrieked in terror the entire time. He struggled to get away and cried, but his mother just laughed. Over the shrieks she said his name was Avery. Let’s just say that when we reached a wall made of glass, and fake dead patients slapped at it (supposed to be a failed experiment that caused zombies) and tried to get at people--the shrieking hit new levels for the kid.

Other than almost going deaf, it was fun. Well, not for him, obviously...I’ve always wondered if and for how long he’ll be in therapy...

5. I honestly have no idea. I’ll probably think of it in 20 years...

To make a poll where only you can see the answers, set the "Results viewable to" option to "none." But you can't edit polls, so you'll have to repost it.

This looks like fun...
