Martha Jones Poll

I'm going to be writing a fanfic at some point in February, where Martha Jones turns out to have been a Pre-Immortal. I hinted a bit of it in a fanfic that I recently posted.

I originally planned to have Methos train her, but then someone mentioned Amanda. Now I think they might get into a lot of trouble in between training, and I'm torn between who would be better to train her. So, I've started two polls. One for the teacher, and one for a possible first death.

Because she's going to revive in Jack's little morgue area at Torchwood, she needs to be dead for a little while. And I remembered for some, they immediately revive, and for others it ends as a dash across the city in nothing but a sheet after waking in a morgue.

I take it this is a crossover, one half of which I know nothing about (is it Highlander? I've no clue!) so I'm not going to vote...

The first time I stumbled across Doctor Who was actually because of Highlander. Someone wrote a fanfic where Methos (oldest Immortal) was possessed by The Master, and it got me interested in trying out the show.

And the time I reread it, it also happened to be when the new series was starting on the Sci-Fi Channel.

I'd look for it, but given how many DW serials I've got waiting to be watched (plus all the S3 extras I've barely touched), I don't think it's worth it! Almost all my spare time goes into writing...

Methos training anyone is a hard sell -- Amanda sounds like much more fun. Also, the idea of Martha and Amanda doing anything together appeals.

I tend to be of the opinion that female Immies are best trained by women. Nothing against the men at all, but survival through the centuries really is different for women. Plus, Methos is so cagey I can't think he does much training at all these days. So I'm voting Amanda. Though I would not at all be opposed to a visit from Methos. Also, I'm thinking Jack *has* to know Amanda. Absolutely has to.

hmmm, normally I'd agree, though if there's one male immortal who'd know how to train a female immortal, I'd say it's Methos. Because he probably used those same survival techniques that women have used.

The biggest question with him though would be, why would he put that much effort into a new immortal that he barely knows and who might end up going after him...

I could see Methos finding her and then leaving her with Amanda because he knows Duncan would get annoyed if he just abandonned the girl.

That sounds about right for how he would do it. He would probably phone Amanda (he's Jack--he has to have her number) once he finished having a near heart attack over Martha being alive and not dead in Torchwood's little morgue.

I'm actually picturing Jack slowly putting her in that drawer and starting to close it, and Martha waking up with a gasp and them both screaming in shock.

I voted for Methos for the not necessarily relevant reason that Peter Wingfield is the better actor. I tried not to, but.

I voted for Amanda. She was trained by a woman - Rebecca. And the one time Duncan tried to train a new female Immortal, Michelle, that turned into a disaster and he had to pawn her off on Amanda.

I adore Methos, but I don't see him giving anyone that kind of devotion that training would entail. Except Duncan and he doesn't need training. Well, except the occasional lessons Methos gives him when he's around.

As far as how she dies, I'm not into the fandom, so I don't really know her. Ah well.

And I would likely have that happen, if I had ever seen or heard of Iris Wildthyme before. I'll check Wikipedia to see what episodes she was in.
