A Young Alison Sweeney
Earlier today, I watched an old episode of Tales from the Darkside earlier today, since there was a marathon on the Sci-Fi Channel, and I’ve never seen the show. Turns out the episode starred a very young (the episode was made in 1986, according to the credits) Alison Sweeney, (she’s from Days of Our Lives for those that don’t watch) as a little girl that killed people by saying goodbye. Basically, they died seconds later so it was either intentional or premonitions--the way she acted, it was likely the latter. Very creepy, and I didn’t recognize her until she grinned.
She also reminded me a little bit of the Test Card Girl from Life on Mars, which may have had something to do with the creepiness factor.
She said “Goodbye, Mother” in a very slow voice with wide eyes, and stroked her mother’s face. Then, she left the room, and her mother lit a match--oops, left the gas on, and up goes the kitchen. (She goes to her older sister, who just got engaged) The little girl does the same thing with a best friend of her own age--seconds later, that girl’s scarf gets caught in the door, and she falls and breaks her neck--they laid her corpse on the couch for a few minutes.
Cut to later, and she does the same thing to her doll--it gets stepped on. She does the same thing to the sister’s fiancée (played by the guy that was the main character in Radioland Murders, I believe)--he dies of an asthma attack moments later.
At the very end, the sister has apparently decided all the deaths were intentional. They show her pouring sand into all the little girl’s flotation devices, and then she goes to tell her that she’ll teach her to swim in the deep end today. Sweeney looks into the mirror, and it looks like water is slowly filling the room in a premonition or something. When it reaches the top of the mirror, she says “Goodbye, Karen.” Presumably, predicting that she will, in fact, be dead soon.
Now, I really want Sami to do some sort of prediction like that on Days, just to creep everyone out. *laughs*
I checked IMDB, and the episode is called “I Can’t Help Saying Goodbye.” The series was apparently produced by George Romero, which makes so much sense what with the tone of the show and all.
On a lighter note, for those that haven’t voted in the Meggan PB poll, you can do so here.

I'd love for her to say goodbye to Kate. Please. Pretty please?

When she first popped up in Salem I loved her. Now, though? When she freaked out on that plane and kept gasping (while others calmly got oxygen from the mask) it got really annoying.
I was never more happy in my life to see a character pass out.

I wonder if we can get Sami to say goodbye to Belle while we're at it. Because she's so annoying. It's like having Carrie all over again. And I didn't like that one on the first go round, either.
The writers, depending on the schedule on who I'm talking about, seem to blow at keeping their characters consistent. They're almost as bad as GH. And that's the dullest show in Dullville.
