Not As Easy As Expected…
Okay, looks like the whole new refrigerator thing went wrong. At 10:30 AM, the delivery people came and (since there was a fee for taking it away) put it in the garage. They were about to bring in the new one when Dad noticed they had brought the wrong one. It was very narrow and tall, when it should have been shorter and fatter. The guys delivering didn’t care, but said they might mention it to the guy that sold it to us. They said that he comes in at 1:30 today, but they probably wouldn’t get the one we wanted in stock until sometime next week or the week after.
Let’s just say, Dad was furious, since we need one right now. He went down to Sears and told them to give him his money back, and they said no. They couldn’t physically do that, since they had just then cashed the check, and they didn’t want to physically hand over any actually money. But they would mail a check back to him by Monday.
Dad went down to Lowe’s and found the exact same refrigerator for a cheaper price, and asked if they actually had it in their stock, rather than just for show. And he looked over their shoulders himself to see the computer, and went into their storage room to make sure they were telling him the truth. The people at Lowe’s said that what Sears did is what they hear a lot of from other people. And that about $100-150 of the cost wasn’t necessary. Supposedly, they would have had people check the fridge once a year, but they don’t really do that.
After all that, the one from Lowe’s (a Whirlpool, which is the same thing as a Kenmore, I believe) is going to arrive tomorrow morning. The guy doing it said they didn’t usually deliver things on Saturday, but after Dad’s story he was willing to do it. He even phoned everyone he could to make sure that it could be delivered as early as possible.
Unless we get another ice storm, it should be here tomorrow. And a lot of snow and ice is expected tonight or tomorrow morning, so we'll see what happens.

Much better to go with Lowes.

Sears sucks, and has for years. About the only thing I like is their sponsorship of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

I don't know how they expect to stay in business with crappy service like that. But it works out for Lowe's which I guess they're thankful for.
