The Sentinel

For those that might be interested, it looks like the Sci-Fi Channel is going to have a marathon of The Sentinel, beginning at 7 AM CST. They're showing the pilot episode first.

I, myself, have never seen the show before. Is it worth watching? All I know about it is what I learned from a few fanfic crossovers between them and Highlander.

It's an ok show, with lots of slashy subtext. Though if you come in through fanfic, you have to keep in mind that a lot of the tropes in Sentinel fanfic are based on fanon rather than actual show canon.

I liked it a lot. Thanks for posting about it -- I'm going to throw in a tape and watch it later.

I liked it. The series tried to be more of a straight Buddy-Buddy action show than anything quirky or overly fun like the later seasons of dueSouth. It's kind of like Kung Fu: The Legend Continues without the martial arts, or Silk Stalkings with the pr0n sex. The series really isn't anything special but they had decent production values and a few moments of awesome banter within episodes.

Season Two and Three were really fun for me. It was a nice balance of Action TV show of the week and cop quirkiness with occasional angst. The network's continual push for a female lead was annoying though.

But yeah, if you're coming to it from fandom, the series plays it really straight and deadpanned and sides more with the odd pairing couple idea.

It's a decent show. Not a huge favorite, but the slashy subtext isn't bad to see.

I've been watching it today while I'm doing other things.
