RIP, James E. Reilly

James E. Reilly—best known as a past writer for Days of Our Lives, and the head writer for Passions—has passed away following heart surgery, at the age of 60. May he rest in peace.

While I didn’t care for his writing the last time he was on Days, it was because of his stuff that I actually started watching the show in the first place, back in 1995. The possession of Marlena was the first storyline I watched and became hooked on the show. Back then, it was good—well, to me, at least.

On a happier note, I got in touch with a neighbor, who phoned her adult daughter (who works at the radio station I’ve mentioned in a previous post) and asked her about a list for Halloween stuff in the area. She got in touch with someone else, who got in touch with the person that runs the website, and an updated page (which apparently replaces the page for 2006 listings completely) is up now. It looks like it’s being updated every few hours, from what I can tell.

Oh, man. I didn't like his work (hello, Passions, how ya doing?) but I'm sad that as a person he's gone. I wonder what they'll do on Days, since he was such an important and did some good work. I liked the Marlena possession a lot. I grew up watching Days, even caught a snippet earlier with the EJ Babies story line. That's just sad. I'll have to let my moms know.

Ah, sad. Passions was basically crap, but it was cracktastic crap, especially for the first four years. I started watching it out of sheer disbelief that it would stay on the air, and when it just kept going, I kept watching...I was so addicted to that show for about four years. I will never forget the hilarity that was Zombie!Charity.
