Computer Issues

Just checked my profile, and as of the 10th, I'll have been on LJ for 5 years. Joined on November 10th, 2003.

In other news, my computer issues weren't just the new scanner, or all the Virtumonde, apparently. Earlier, the computer froze when I was in the middle of something, and I restarted. It said it couldn't find the operating system.

Tried again, and that time I got it. I still get the blue screen of death every so often. I've saved everything I need to keep to the external hard drive, just in case it goes down for good.

Your harddrive may be going up. Run any diagnostic utilities you might have on your start up disks (sorry I can't be more clear but I don't know who made your computer.)

If it's Dell, look for a 00f:0240 error. That means you have uncorrectable errors on the drive.
I'm putting a new harddrive in my computer tonight.

This computer is a Compaq Presario--no idea if it would have the same type of thing, though.

Is your hard drive making a noise? If not I think that's still the virus hiding messing up your computer. Before I got help, it happen to me a couple of times.

No, no noises as of yet. I think it's a virus that's hidden really well, combined with the fact that we've had this computer for years.
