RIP, Ricardo Montalban

Another sad day for Trek fans. Ricardo Montalban—the actor best known as Khan on Star Trek, and Mr. Roarke on Fantasy Island—has passed away in his home today, at the age of 88. The cause of death is currently undisclosed, but I do know that he had been ill for a long time. May he rest in peace. I think this is just a bad year for Star Trek related actors.

Sidenote: I was so close to titling this post “KHAAAANNNN!!!!” but chose not to.

But, before that, he played a variety of roles. He came to the fore as a Latin lover --- and he was so right in that genre.

The day we all found out Ricardo Montalban had died, I needed to look something up on Google News.

You know how the main "News" page for Google has the list of the currently most-popular searches? Now, his name wasn't in that list of popular searches - but that was because lots of people couldn't spell "Montalban", so the search that was on there was "Mr Roarke".

I just thought it was nice, people were looking for news even though they didn't know how to spell his name.
