Philip José Farmer has passed away, at the age of 91. May he rest in peace. For some strange reason, I thought he had passed away a few years ago. I think I only read a few of Farmer’s novels—mostly Tarzan Alive, and The Other Log of Phileas Fogg, as the latter involved Sherlock Holmes. I also watched part of the Sci-Fi Channel mini-series of Riverworld, but that was just because it was one of the last things Kevin Smith (Ares, from Hercules) was in. I know I loved reading through the Wold Newton Universe website every so often for a while there.

And something that should prove to be a horrible decision? Yogi Bear will be made into a 3-D CGI movie.

In the same vein as TARZAN ALIVE, Farmer wrote DOC SAVAGE: HIS APOCALYPTIC LIFE, which is an absolutely garking brilliant analysis, write-up, and investigation of every single aspect of Doc Savage's adventures. He went through every single story and mined every bit of trivia about Doc's offices, his aides' biographies, his aides' *pets,* Doc's gadgets, you name it. Magnificently done, and includes Doc as part of the Wold-Newton universe with Tarzan.
He also wrote A FEAST UNKNOWN, the thinly-veiled Tarzan/Doc Savage crossover that is FARKING INSANE. WITH ORGASMS AND VIOLENCE. Scratch that "and;" BECAUSE OF.
Also, he wrote "The Girl in the Hairy Paw," which crossed over Doc Savage and King Kong. And did some rather horrifying things as well.
Best wishes to him, and I'm glad as hell he was here.
