My first word was mailman. Mom says I was sitting in front of the door, and saw the truck drive by. Since Mom hadn't spotted it yet, I said that word and pointed so she would know.
I was 9 months old. Of course, Mom had been told by a doctor that I would never be able to talk, because I have a soft palate. Shows what they know, sometimes. When I was 3 or 4 years old, they did a talking X-Ray of it, to show me why I shouldn't be able to talk.

Was your Mom shocked at your being able to talk after being told you wouldn't able to be?
And I'm glad that you're able to talk, it tends to be a rather handy thing to do. :) And I'm still waiting to hear that sweet voice...

And I doubt she was that shocked. Until then, I just hadn't had a good reason to say anything.
