Fannish Items of Interest

For those interested, I may have found one of the stranger ficathons out there. The Omnijaxual Fic Challenge, located at [profile] omnijaxual. It’s pairings for Jack Harkness, with everything up to and including the DeLorean from Back to the Future, the Weeping Angels, and even The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. Go here for the pairing list, rules, and due date.

On Sunday, BBC America is having a Doctor Who marathon. The episodes included are mentioned in the first comment at this post.

Via The Empire Blog, here’s a rant about how there are just too many vampire romances these days. Favorite bit? “…(there's probably a woman alive somewhere who fancied neither Angel or Spike, but I've never met her).” Well, I’m the rare one that never fancied either vampire. Xander was more interesting, as he was someone who wouldn’t go evil—well, unless a hyena cage happened to be nearby, or a fake future self made him a jerk. Oh, and speaking of non-romance vampires—am I the only one that used to read (and loved) The Last Vampire series of novels by Christopher Pike?

I'm a woman alive who never really fancied Spike or Angel! ... But that's because I fancied vampire Willow. So I guess I don't count. Also, I write vampire romances, occasionally, when I'm not dealing with revolutions, evil mermaids, or your run of the mill demon.

I was never particularly interested in either Angel or Spike, but maybe that was because a) BBC2 kept shoving Buffy from one part of the schedule to another, b) my heart had already been captured by Who.

After all the COE shenanigans, it's nice to see a ficathon wherein Jack is very much the fifty-first-century boy.

Never fancied Spike or Angel. Vamp!Willow was kinda sexy in a skanky way, but really I've NEVER seen the attraction to vampires.
