Extremely Ill Cat
Yesterday, the cat seemed fine, and was acting normal. This morning, she was acting strange. She didn’t eat, and then she just lay down and seemed very weak and acted like she was having trouble breathing. Breathing extremely fast. Dad took her to the vet (and she went into the carrier without a fight or a single meow--normally, she attacks and meows the whole way there) and it turns out that she has congestive heart failure, with fluid in her lungs. Apparently, they could tell she had an enlarged heart after an x-ray.
We’re getting medication, and are supposed to bring her back in a week, to see how she’s doing. She's currently resting.
And on a slightly lighter note, I'm working on the drabbles for the Support Stacie auction. I think I've finished the one for
wendymr, and just need to edit a few things. I'll start on the one for
yamx next.
For those that wonder,
wendymr finally won me for $81.
ETA: Got the names of the medications for the cat, for anyone that wants to know. She takes half a Lasix a day--12.5 mg. It's a water pill, which is helping get rid of some of the fluid. She's breathing a bit better due to that. Mom says it's something that's given to humans.
And the other is Benazepril. 1/2 a day, and the dose is 5 mg.

And hey, she's survived longer than expected anyway. The mystery virus she got (long since gone) after she first came would have killed her if we hadn't gotten her to her first vet visit. Until then, she was a stray that had decided to keep us. And then had kittens and given them to us, since she didn't want them. With that first litter (first that we know of) is when she got sick with a weird virus.
