Fannish Items of Interest

David Tennant is playing The Ghost of Christmas Present in an episode of The Catherine Tate Show.

16 Sci-Fi TV Shows Killed In Season 2.

Someone at The AV Club watched Ghostbusters for the first time...and didn’t like it. And seemed to think that people born in 1980-1985 wouldn’t have seen it the first time around. Well, I did when I was 4. Didn’t see it uncut until I was 9 or 10 during a brief time we had HBO, but I saw it.

As can be expected, there are a ton of comments going after the reviewer, while others just quoted the movie. There’s a mention of a Ghostbusters related scene in Zombieland--what was it, since I didn’t watch that movie? The analysis of what did and didn’t work for them is interesting, as is them somehow misunderstanding “ZUUL!” (when Dana opens the fridge) as “SOUP!”

I saw the pictures of what the Doctor is wearing at the beginning of the next episode, and I just have to wonder if Jack would start laughing at him. Or send him somewhere to check his sanity. While I’m not about to spoil Waters of Mars for anyone that hasn’t seen it yet, there will likely be spoilers in the comments.

Four Remedies To Twilight. Mr. Vampire is on the list, as is Christopher Lee’s Dracula.

From the same guy that does I’m A Marvel And I’m A DC, there’s a funny spoof of Twilight--starring Harley Quinn and the Joker. You can watch it here.

Spoiler for Zombieland....

Bill Murray has a role in it. Woody Harrelson's character suggests the four non-zombies (not Murray yet) find a place to stay and chooses Murray's house. They're blasting out, having fun, and Murray arrives faking the zombie syndrome. Gets his ass kicked then Woody and the female lead who is the love interest for not hero enjoys talking to him. They know that her sister and the least likely hero ever are down watching a movie and he plays the prank...in which hero boy kills Murray dead on reflex.

That's the gist, if not short and not overly detailed. I'm currently battling puppy hyper time but it's worth watching. Just don't eat any time during, before, or after. Give your tummy time to settle. But it's a hilarious movie, especially when you consider Harrelson's character always paints a 3 on all the cars he permanently borrows.

Oh, and all the "double taps" are references to Zombieland, too. It's a rule. Not Hero has a lot.

Seconding the love for Zombieland. Actually, it made me think I should probably rent Ghostbusters, as I am a child of 1983 and missed the movie the first go around...though my brother and I watched the cartoon series religiously, and spent Saturday mornings ghost-busting.
