Another Ghostbusters rumor: Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd seemed to think Ghostbusters 3 would be released in 2011. Given the fact that there’s barely a script and there hasn’t been any filming, I doubt that’s the case. 2012 would be better if they really are going to do this movie. Ignoring all the screams of the world ending December of that year, of course.
Ten 80’s Movies Moments We’d Love To Time Travel Back To. The Enchantment Under The Sea dance from Back to the Future, and Mr. Stay Puft stomping down the street get mentions.
Hank Azaria has been cast as Gargamel.
Joss Whedon’s Top 10 Writing Tips. In the comments over there, someone added killing characters when you least expect it.
I’ve had it confirmed that a used bookstore I loved in Memphis was washed away in the flooding. And at least one comic book store I went to a long time ago. Also, Eddyville is apparently partly underwater now--however, the outlet mall I go to every 6 months or so is okay. So is the only McDonalds in the world where I can stand the food.
Oh, and Jim Cantore from The Weather Channel is in Nashville. For some reason, I didn’t know that until now. When he shows up, you know it’s bad. He appeared right before the ice storm hit us here in Paducah, and stayed for it. Someone in my family said this: “Jim Cantore’s there? May God have mercy on their souls.” I tried to say that he was a herald of the apocalypse and accidentally said he was the Herald of Galactus. It’s better somehow.

But killing characters when you least expect it? That only works when it's for more than mere shock value. Robert Kirkman (INVINCIBLE, THE WALKING DEAD) generally understands how to do surprising character death with weight that impacts the story and/or the characters. I'm far less certain about Joss.
While I strongly disagree with his idea that happy couples make for boring story, I can at least understand Tara's death and can see how it furthered the character arc of Willow, and the story arc in general. But Wash? That just felt gratuitous. Shock for the sake of shock, and after so many years of seeing that in comics, few storytelling cliches piss me off more.

I've been looking up flood maps to make sure the person that confirmed it for us was right, since more than one bookstore has the name Book Traders.
Since it wasn't the one near some railroad tracks (that may have been a different Book Rack--that one was definitely in a flood prone spot) there's a small chance Book Traders might not be the one underwater. I'm trying to find out, though.
