The Pandorica Opens

-Until I could watch the episode yesterday evening, I was having a Raiders of the Lost Ark kind of moment with my friends list. Open a post, “DON’T LOOK! WHATEVER YOU DO—DON’T LOOK!” Copy the link into a word document, close the page as fast as possible. I managed to get through unspoiled. One feed I have on my friends list was posting Twitter reactions as the episode was shown. I had to put my hand over that half the page, to avoid being spoiled.

-Loved River’s message to the Doctor on the cliff. And the fact she was Cleopatra.

-Wondering just how many body parts poor Captain Jack has lost over the years. A head here, a hand there. His entire body blown up in Children of Earth. If it wasn’t him that lost the hand, then I expect John lost it. If it was Jack, and it was in his Pre-Immortal days, he would have gone to New Earth's Cat Nun run hospital via another vortex manipulator and obtained a new hand.

-After hearing the radio trailer, and seeing the clip, I had expected some sort of energy being to possess the Doctor after the Pandorica was opened. Or there would be a Key to Time type of situation. I’m glad it didn’t go that way.

-I was kind of amused to see a Cyberman’s head, but that’s mostly because of my friends list joking about a robot head in Stonehenge Apocalypse.

-Can we keep Auton Rory? I think I like him better. Although, that’s more to do with my own obsession with Ancient Rome. Love the gladiator outfit, Rory!

-I remember the Auton Mickey back in Rose. The Autons seem to be learning how to actually make people look like regular people and not really badly done copies. I actually like them now. Or maybe that’s just because The Crack stuffed Rory’s soul into the Auton.

-I was very happy to see General Stahl. I loved him—sure they’re all a clone race, and he was blown up last time we saw him, but I like him.

-“Look at me, I’m a target!” Only you could pull that off, Doctor and I love you for it.

-All the villains the Doctor’s ever encountered. And I think one of the many, many reviews I’ve read in various places (I don’t know where anymore) said it included a Weevil and a Blowfish from Torchwood amongst them all. Is that true? I missed those two if it is.

-“Silence will fall.” I’ve read so many theories on who the voice could have been, and he does sound familiar. It wasn’t raspy enough for Davros. It can’t be the Valeyard. It’s not the Master. (Love the theory that the TARDIS has been a boy all along and was fed up with being referred to as a girl, though) It sounds a bit like the one saying “Prisoner Zero has escaped,” back in The Eleventh Hour. Maybe the Black Guardian, if we’re going back to the old series?

-Another theory, which won’t be true, since this isn’t RTD: All this was caused by the clone. The metacrisis had far more side effects than we ever knew back in season 4. Cracks opened, but they didn’t get noticed until now. More cracks caused by the Tenth Doctor losing it on Mars and messing with a fixed point. Things getting messed with and rearranged could explain why the Ood were so advanced in such a short period of time. RTD never explained that one.

-Loved the ultimate cliffhanger. River opening the door to escape, only to find a brick wall. Amy possibly being dead, killed by Rory. The Doctor stuck, while the universe implodes. The stars going out again.

- Remember when Rose said the stars were going out because of Davros? Well, because of the Doctor and the Crack this time around, it’s actually happened. So...what's going on in the other reality, then? Are the stars going out there, too? Or have they already gone out for them, since it’s ahead of this one? Or, since Amy probably doesn’t exist there, and the Doctor doesn’t seem to be around, it’s probably not a problem for the clone and Rose.

-Moffett, you magnificent man. I actually enjoyed the show this week, and loved the Doctor and Rory reuniting. Other than the Van Gogh episode, and part one of the Weeping Angels, I hadn’t cared for anything this season. I would have liked Vampires in Venice more, if there had been vampires—not fish people.

Next week: 404 Universe Not Found, as [personal profile] seandc said via AIM. 5 seconds long for the episode as the budget ran out, or it stars only the surviving villains. Doing the Macarena as the universe burns. I want you all to have the image of the Judoon attempting to dance trapped in your brains, too. Someone on my friends list suggested Disco Dancing Daleks in the Pandorica--this is just as silly.

-If it weren’t for the universe ending, I would want to see the victory celebration for all those villains. It would be insane. Although, the Daleks might want to get in a little pest control when it comes to the Cybermen--again. The Sontarans might slaughter a few others. The Judoon trying to arrest them, and being killed by others. If only the Master were around for this, he could disco dance in the middle of it all, as the universe is snuffed out. Or save the Doctor, depending on his mood.
