Two Important Fannish Items, And A Meme

This is important: If you have an account on any of the Gawker affiliates, (Gawker, Jezebel, Gizmodo, Jalopnik, Kotaku, Deadspin, Lifehacker, io9, or Fleshbot) your account may have been compromised. They were hacked, and the ones responsible managed to get user account passwords and e-mail addresses. More information can be found here. While I regularly read Io9, Jezebel, Gawker, and Kotaku, I’ve never registered with them to post a comment, so I’m okay. I just wanted to spread the word to anyone that hadn't heard yet. Consumerist may have also been compromised, given that they used to be part of the Gawker circle--see the comments for a link to their response.

It looks like Inksome will be closing. You have until April to save anything you might have over there.

And now, a meme, taken from [personal profile] musesfool:

If you had to pick one fic of mine that is the one you identify with me, what would it be?

My fanfic can be found through this tag.

It’s –12 degrees Fahrenheit outside, and everything is closed. With Forever Knight, I’m currently up to an episode by the name of I Will Repay. After that, I'll watch the season finale of Lost Girl.

ETA: It took a while for me to make the connection. Catherine Disher was also the voice of Jean Grey in X-Men: TAS. It took her saying "Nick, no!" a certain way for me to recognize the voice.

ETA 2: And I've added Consumerist to the list, thanks to [personal profile] joyeuxnoel.

Haha! Does she say anything other than "Nick, no!" *likes to think this actress never gets any other lines* :P

You might want to add Consumerist to that list as well. They used to be part of the Gawker network until they were sold. After the sale the purged all passwords but they figure a lot of people just signed up with the same information as before.

No prob. Consumerist also has a post on it here (http://consumerist.com/2010/12/hackers-swipe-gawker-users-passwords-emails.html).

(They weren't actually hacked but since they used to be part of the Gawker network, they'd rather their readers err on the side of caution.)

Fortunately I've never signed up with that particular network, but that bites.

(Do we know if this has anything to do with Anonymous dogpiling on various websites in the wake of l'affaire Wikileaks?)

Pity about Inksome, but I did get the impression it stagnated after an initial rally.

I have registered to comment with i09, so it now makes complete sense that gmail said there had been suspicious activity on my account and made me jump through hoops to reset it!
