RIP, Gerry Rafferty

Gerry Rafferty has passed away at the age of 63, due to liver disease. May he rest in peace. I didn’t think I had ever heard of him, until I listened to Baker Street. So I have heard of him, I just didn’t realize it.

And now I’m desperately trying to find out where I’ve heard that song before—I think it may have been used as part of an opening intro for a live action show in the 80’s or early to mid 90’s. The closest I can find is She-Wolf of London, after they turned it into Love and Curses. But that’s not quite right, after comparing the two. Does anyone know where else it might have been used?

Want to know something funny? Gerry Rafferty used to play at the pub that my parents would hang out when they first met up in Thurso, Scotland. (They met in 1980, so he'd stopped playing there by then but the owner of the place always talked about him playing there.)

And Dick King-Smith, author of The Sheep Pig (which became the Hollywood hit movie Babe) has died today.

This week can just go eff off - it's turned into the shittiest first week of the year I've ever known in 42 years.
