I have to admit that there are some characters and fandoms that I'm not familiar with, but of the ones that I do know, I can see a pattern towards intelligent but quirky characters. These are also often very human characters that might not always known the best way to interact with other people so they tend to use jokes and their intelligence to make up for it. A lot seem to question their worth on a fairly regular basis. Most of them are strong even though they don't know it all the time.
