Fannish Items of Interest--And A Note About The Weather

Superman has been cast for the Zack Snyder reboot. He will be played by Henry Cavill. I’ve never seen him in anything, so I’ll likely be tracking down a couple movies he’s been in.

10 Mostly (And Deservedly) Forgotten Comic Book Movies. Generation X is listed, along with the other Captain America movies, Vampirella, and Dr. Strange. I watched Dr. Strange, back when the Sci-Fi Channel was good. Last year, I located Vampirella—only worth it for Roger Daltrey having a lot of fun with the role.

In other news, we are expected to have a massive storm hit us soon. It’s either tonight or tomorrow, the local news isn’t exactly certain. It spans the width of 30 states, they do know that much. Where we are is right at the edge of the line. We’ll either have several feet of snow and a lot of ice covering everything before some extra sleet is thrown in--or a massive thunderstorm.

We’re stocked up on bread now. Potatoes and carrots are left from yesterday's crock pot. Dad went out and bought extra food from Burger King, as well as Captain D’s. More soup than we know what to do with. Should last us a few weeks. We have little heaters that Dad bought after the ice storm. We have tons of warm clothes that Mom bought even more of after the ice storm. If Jim Cantore arrives from The Weather Channel like he did before the ice storm, we'll know we're ever so slightly doomed.

Mom says this expected storm was last seen by her back in the 70’s, shortly after my sister was born prematurely. She couldn’t get out for supplies, Dad couldn’t get home for a week because he was snowed in at work and nearly went off the road from the ice after just a couple feet. So my late grandmother reportedly blackmailed the mailman on his behalf. He would never speak of what she said, but would only giggle nervously when approached. For the next few months, despite the storm having ended, he still brought her mail straight to her and not the box. He brought her groceries and milk for free. He swept the sidewalk. He did various errands until such a time as my grandmother called him off.

What did she do to him? The world will never know, since she took the secret to her grave. However, Mom happily informs me that she has minions, too, she just hasn't needed to call on them yet.

What are you talking about - Generation X was amazing!

Heh, I actually managed to dig up a torrent many, many years ago, and have it floating around on a CD somewhere. But that movie was a riot...just not in a good way.

Hmm, I wonder which one I have. I know Jubilee says "fuck" in it once or twice, so I'm thinking it's probably the British version. Were the two vastly different?
